I. God
God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons:
the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equals and are one God.
[ Genesis 1:1, 26-37, 3:22, Isaiah 44:6, Matthew 28:19, John 1:1, Acts 5:3-4, and Titus 2:13 ]
A. God the Father
God the Father reigns with providential care over His universe, His creatures, and guides
history to His appointed plan. He is all powerful, all loving, and all wise. God is the
Father in truth to those who become children of God through faith In Jesus Christ.
[ Genesis 1:1, Colossians 1:15, I Timothy 1:17, Hebrews 12:9, and I Peter 1:17 ]
B. God the Son
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless life on
earth and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on the
cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death.
He ascended to heaven's glory and will return again someday to earth to reign as King of kings
and Lord of lords.
[ Matthew 1:22-23, Isaiah 9:6, I Corinthians 15:3-4, Acts 1:8-11, and Titus 2:13 ]
C. God the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Godhead and is co-equal with the Father and the Son.
He is present in the world to make men aware of their sin and their need for Jesus Christ. He also
lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for
living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He gives every believer
a spiritual gift when he is saved. As a Christian we seek to live under His control daily.
[ John 14:16-17, 16:7-13, Acts 1:8, 5:3-4, Ephesians 1:13, Galatians 5:25, and I Corinthians 2:12 ]
II. The Bible
The Bible is God's Word to us. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance
of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth and authority for Christian beliefs and
living. Because it is inspired by God, it is the truth without any mixture of error.
[ Psalm 119:105, Proverbs 30:5, II Timothy 3:16, and II Peter 1:20-21 ]
3. Mankind
Man is the supreme object of God's creation. Every person is made in the image of God. This
does not mean that we look like God but instead that we have the ability to reflect God's
character and that we are the only creature on earth who can have an eternal relationship with
God. Through Adam all mankind has been marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called
sin. Sin separates us from God. Everyone is under the judgment of God and in need of the
Savior, Jesus Christ.
[ Genesis 1:26-30, Psalms 51:5, Isaiah 53:6, Romans 1:19-23, and Ephesians 2:1-22 ]
4. Salvation
Salvation is God's free gift to us, but we must receive it. We can never make up for our
sins by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God's offer of
forgiveness can anyone be saved from the penalty of sin. When we turn from our self-ruled
life and turn to Jesus in faith, then we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment one
receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.
5. Eternal Security
Because God gives us eternal life through Jesus Christ, the true believer is secure eternally
secured. If you have been genuinely saved, you can not lose your salvation. Salvation is
maintained by the grace and power of God, not by our self-efforts. It is God who keeps us
saved.
[ John 56:24, 10:29, Romans 8:31-39, I John 1:9, Ephesians 1:13, and I Peter 1:3-5 ]
6. Eternity
Since people are made in the image of God, we will live forever. We will either be eternally
separated from God by sin or be eternally in His presence because of the forgiveness and
salvation. To be eternally separated from God is to exist in hell. To be united with God is to
be in the Kingdom of Heaven.
[ John 3:16, John 5:11-13, Romans 6:23, and Revelation 20:15 ]
7. Spiritual Gifts
The Holy Spirit gives spiritual gifts to every believer so that we may perform the works
of the ministry. We believe the "sign gifts" were given for a specific time and purpose
and since the New Testament era have ceased to operate in a way that is considered
normative.
This does not mean that God does not or will not perform miracles at His appointed time.
We do not believe the sign gifts are operative as they were in the days of Jesus and the Apostles.
[ I Corinthians 13:8, II Timothy 4:20, and Hebrews 2:3-4 ]
8. Return of Jesus Christ
We believe that one day Jesus Christ will return for His Church in the event called
"the rapture" in which the Church will be suddenly taken from this world and brought
into heaven with Jesus. Following this event will be seven years of tribulation in which
God's judgment will be unleashed upon the earth. After seven years, Jesus will return to
earth with the saints to conqueror evil and establish His millennial kingdom on earth.
[ Daniel 9, I Thessalonians 4:13-15, 5:9, II Thessalonians 2, and Revelation 19-20 ]
